Ice Cream Scoop, Large, Kentucky Coffeetree

Kentucky Coffeetree

large scoop,  2 1/2" x 2"

8 1/4" end to end

This tree is a genuine piece of North American history. It gets its name because early Native Americans and frontier settlers would harvest its large, leathery seed pods and roast the hard beans inside to brew a strong beverage as a coffee substitute when real coffee was unavailable. Because the tree grows slowly and is relatively scarce in the wild, it is rare to find.
