Butter Candle

A fresh churn of country butter and a jug of cream cooling in the pantry. Butter opens smooth and golden, sweet butter and fresh cream swirled with a tangy splash of buttermilk. The heart gets rich and full with clotted cream, whole milk and a little curl of salted butter, then it all melts down into soft vanilla cream and warm milk. Like a butter dish on grandma's farmhouse counter. Rich, mellow, and weirdly comforting.

12 oz (340 g) candle, hand-poured in small batches at our shop in York, PA with coconut apricot wax and a crackling wooden wick.

• Top notes: fresh cream, sweet butter, buttermilk

• Base notes: vanilla cream, warm milk, sweet cream
• 12 oz coconut apricot wax, clean-burning

Perfect for bakers, butter-board people, and anyone who thinks the best part of the bread basket is what you put on it.

Care: trim the wick to about 1/8 inch before each burn, and let the first burn go until the wax melts edge to edge. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
